Vicinity signs deal for 2013 album Awakening

Mar 16, 2018

The progressive metal band Vicinity has signed a deal with Pug-Nose Records for the album Awakening. The album was originally released by the band itself in 2013 but on March 26, 2018, the album will be published by Pug-Nose Records in all digital channels. The effort should be seamless and fans and listeners should still be able to find the album online in the takeover period.

Owner of Pug-Nose Records, Kristian Singh-Nergård, comments on the signing:
For me personally my relationship with Vicinity comes full circle with this release. I was one of the founders of the band and played on the first EP back in 2008. The EP was subsequently released on Pug-Nose Records as soon as the label was up and running in 2011. I have one song-writing credit on Awakening which makes it a bit special to me. The guys have come a long way since I left the band, both as songwriters and musicians. One thing that really impressed me about this release, in addition to the great musicianship, was the production. The sound is crystal clear and it has a real punch. Vicinity got metal’s mastering guru Jens Bogren to master the album. The album also marked the entrance of the new bass player Pierre H. Schmidt-Melbye. He’s playing is really tasteful and I enjoy the tone of his bass very much. He’s clearly a great addition to the band.
