The electronica group Sweet Smell of Death (SSOD) from Oslo, Norway, was founded in 2010, and consists of Paranoid James’ singer Vetle Løvgaard (vocals, guitar, keyboards) and BIOBEAT’s bass player Kristian Singh-Nergård (keyboards, programming). “We both play in rock bands, but we’ve always loved electronic music, so that’s something we’ve wanted to experiment with for a very long time,” vocalist Vetle Løvgaard says. “Our background in rock music gives us a different perspective on things, and I think that’s health. That kinda makes our music stand out from the rest of the herd.”
SSOD have spent the last year writing songs, and are now ready with their debut single, The Pawn. The music is experimental and filled with various sounds in a controlled soundscape, but it’s still sexy and catchy. “We did everything ourselves on this recording,” explains Vetle. “We both wrote, recorded, engineered and produced the music, while Kristian mixed and mastered it. I think you can hear some of our inspirations from electronic based music like Puscifer, How To Destroy Angels and Crosses on The Pawn, but still I think our music is unique in its own way, and it doesn’t sound like anything you’ve heard before.”
